Q. How is this different from Maya’s standard merge?

A. In addition to three merge modes, it implements Quick Mode.
UV handling performs branching (non-seam = coordinate copy / seam-involved = automatic transform) and includes an auto-unpin UVs feature ideal for LOD reduction.
Designed for speed and reliability with a focus on convenience.

Q. Does Quick Mode cause unintended operations?

A. Quick Mode operates only inside the viewport and only when merge preconditions are met, preventing misfires.
It pre-detects conditions like Select All, limit exceedance, non-manifold, and lamina, and suppresses unintended execution.
Sensitivity varies; initially enable it only when needed.

Q. Can UVs drift even when Preserve UVs is ON?

A. For non-seam UVs (vertex merge), identical coordinates are copied, so no visible drift occurs in principle.
For seam-involved UVs, it follows Maya “Preserve UVs” with automatic transform and re-arrangement. Minor differences may occur as expected from UV topology.

Q. Is it safe on high-poly meshes?

A. Vertex/UV-set caps prevent overload; dangerous-selection blocking and preflight stop unsafe runs. Design targets fast and safe operation subject to hardware and scene.
If heavy or frozen, adjust “Max Vertex Count”, “Max UV Set Count”, or reduce vertices per run. Deleting object history also helps.

Q. What is Auto Unpin?

A. It automatically unpins only the merged vertices’ UVs, leaving others pinned. Effective for UV edits during LOD and reduction.

Q. Does Quick Mode work in any view panel?

A. Yes. It works in single view, quad, and custom layouts, and can be executed from any view.

Q. Are installation and uninstallation difficult?

A. Both complete by drag-and-drop into the viewport. See “Installation” and “Uninstallation”.

Q. I’m using another tool with the same name. What should I do?

A. During installation, PolyMate checks for same-named packages. If found, it will not overwrite and instead places this tool under a differently named parent folder to avoid conflicts.
It also auto-detects uninstallation in that setup; drag-and-drop the uninstaller to finish.

Q. Can I switch languages?

A. Yes. See “Language Settings” for details.

Q. Will it pollute existing scenes?

A. Policy is to leave no custom nodes or resident plugins; no residue after exit.

Q. Is there a free edition?

A. Yes. A “Light edition” is available. It limits max vertices per run and max UV sets; other features match the full version. You can switch to the full version via in-place install.

Q. Is PolyMate Merge a one-time purchase?

A. Yes. It is a one-time purchase. After purchase, use is not time-limited within the license terms.
It enhances common vertex merges to reduce steps and risk in daily production.
